Workshop: remote assistance for surgeons in mixed reality — Co-designing a mixed reality remote assistance platform
Context
A shortage of specialist surgeons on overseas operations led the client to consider a way for experts to guide doctors in the field remotely.
Stakes
Adapt a remote assistance platform to the very particular constraints of military operations, on a sensitive medical subject.
My role
Facilitating the workshop end to end: VR and mixed reality introduction, framing the three use cases, presenting and iterating on three Figma prototypes (one per case), gathering feedback from the subject experts, and assessing the feasibility of the transmission hardware (Lynx).
Outcome
A complete, costed specification, a concrete concept validated by the stakeholders, and a client now open to mixed reality for future projects.
